Flugfeld has a well-equipped infrastructure to prepare it for the future - both above and below the ground. This is because of the installation of a fibre optic network, invisible to the eye, which offers one of the fastest Internet connections in Germany. Services such as digital TV, Internet and telephony will be provided via FTTH – "fibre to the home" – direct to the home or office. The first use of GPON – Gigabit Passive Optical Network – in Germany enables Internet speeds of more than 100 megabits per second, 16 times the speed of a DSL 6000 connection.

New home-entertainment applications are available in private households: HDTV, IPTV, video on demand and further online services that require higher bandwidth. At the same time, legacy equipment can still be used. Business users also profit from this high-speed network. Thanks to the high transfer rates they can receive a number of managed data services: server hosting, flexible security options for software and hardware – back-up solutions – as well as central data security and data recovery management. Companies with several branches are able to make cost-effective use of their server structure through virtual servers in the Flugfeld Data Centre. In addition there are companies that provide building logistics services such as voice over IP (VoIP), central facility management or video surveillance.
